Description

Platinum foil is applied on handmade Japanese paper made in Futamata-cho, Kanazawa.
Using Japanese paper with a linear pattern (rakusui-gami), the foil is applied only to the convex part of the uneven surface and made to blur, resulting in a dial that gives the impression of a landscape, like the surface of water or clouds.

Surihaku is a technique in which glue is placed in a pattern with gold leaf foil, or other foil applied to the top. The excess foil is then brushed off, revealing the pattern. Please enjoy the charm of this traditional technique as a part of your interior design. Please understand the degree of blurriness of the surihaku varies from one piece to another.

The indexes, or dots indicating the time, are either painted with black iwa-enogu to compliment the Black wooden base, or created with smoked silver foil to compliment the Plain wooden base and the Brown wooden base.

The body of each Hanamokko table clock is hand carved on a lathe using a traditional technique called rokurobiki in Yamanaka, Kaga, Ishikawa.
Yamanaka has a more than 400-year history as a lacquerware production center. The wood is Zelkova, which has a beautiful grain and smooth texture. Please select one of the three available colors from the Wood Color option: Plain, Brown, or Black
